6 Months Old!

First off, sorry for the delay in this post!  Second, I can't believe I have a 6 month old.  Where did the time go?  I seriously had to look through all my pictures on facebook to even remember what Audrey was like as a newborn.  It's gone by so quickly, but at the same time it's hard to remember some things.  Thank goodness I do these monthly posts.  It benefits me more than anyone else I'm fairly certain.

6 Month Stats:
  • I'm going to defer to our 6 month appointment which is on the 19th.  Yes, she'll be 6 1/2 months by then.  Just as a rough estimate, I believe she is just shy of 15 lbs.
  • Clothes:  6 months.  She can wear 6-9 dresses too.
  • Diapers:  Pampers size 3

What Audrey's been up to:
  • Rolly polly.  She loves to roll.  Both ways now.  We do LOTS of floor time and she can log roll across the family room.  She also does lots of rolling in the crib now which has led to...
  • No more swaddle.  She started rolling to her tummy while swaddled then getting stuck!  You are at a pretty big disadvantage trying to roll belly to back without arms to help.  So she would cry.  That meant, time to get rid of the swaddle.  I wasn't ready, and neither was Audrey.  We weaned to 1 arm out then to a sleep sack.  Now we are just wearing footed pajamas and no sleep sack.
  • Babbling!  The girls loves to talk.  In fact, she's doing it right now to her toys.
  • Lots of smiles and laughs.  And now hugs and kisses.  She will lean into a kiss from mommy!  I LOVE it.  She also reaches for me when I pick her up, especially when I pick her up from daycare.
  • Sitting!  She can sit unsupported and play with toys!  She reaches for toys and moves them from hand to hand and of course to her mouth.  Everything goes in the mouth!
  • She hasn't figured out how to crawl.  She gets on her stomach and pushes up on straight arms.  You can tell she wants to move, but just doesn't know how.  It's ok, I'm in no rush.  I have no clue how to "baby proof" this house anyways.
  • She still loves to stand and bears weight well.
  • Food:  Oh goodness.  This girl has been slow to accept solid food.  She flat out refused every attempt for the past month.  We finally had success with rice cereal 2 days ago.  We will slowly add in fruits and veggies now.  I'm hoping next month I'll be writing about all the foods she's eaten!
  • Sleep:  It's been hit or miss.  She's clearly more aware of her environment and that can lead to middle of the night awakenings.  The past 3 nights have been wonderful.  The 3 nights before that were awful.  So, it's a toss up.  Oh, and letting her cry for more than a minute or 2?  No thanks.   She's still not much of a napper.  We go 30 min to 1 hour at best, usually about 3-4 a day.
  • She's a social butterfly.  She was held by probably 20 or more people last weekend at the golf tournament and she smiled, laughed, and babbled to all of them.  She is such a good sport.
I'm loving her personality coming out more and more.  I love that she lights up with both Paul and I and that she loves to cuddle.  Don't grow up into a mean teenager, Audrey!

I'll post after her doctor's appointment.  We also did 6 month professional pictures yesterday so I'll post those when we get them.

5 Months Old!

Audrey Jillian is 5 months old today.  It's hard to believe it's been that long already.  We've had a good month that included some visitors, Nana, Papa, DenDen, Bunchie, Auntie Em, Laura, and her twin girls, Jordan & Kennedy.  We try to go out and about shopping or to restaurants, but haven't been able to do a whole lot outside since it's so dang hot!

Let's start with her 5 month stats:
Weight:  13 lbs 5 oz
Height:  24 1/2 inches
Diapers:  just moved up to size 3 Pampers
Clothes:  mostly 6 month, she has outgrown all her footed PJ's which is sad but ok b/c it's too hot for them anyway!

Likes:  sitting up (Bumbo, highchair, our laps, whereever), jumperoo (this is new for her and she's starting to get the hang of it), her pacifier, the swing, the gym/playmat (still provides so much fun), looking at mommy & daddy, chitchatting with us and her teachers at daycare, her FP Laugh & Learn Puppy (makes diaper changes fun :)  ), crib mobile (it moves and plays music, it's a life saver), stroller rides sitting in the actual stroller part (well, we've done it once and she seemed to like it!), being swaddled

Dislikes:  rice cereal and oatmeal.  We practiced with each for a few days and she just doesn't seem ready yet.  I'm going to start making some baby food and freezing it to try in a couple of weeks.  Tummy time.  Well I don't know if it counts b/c now she can just roll right over.  Carseat!  Still doesn't like it... I look forward to that passing :)

Milestones:  rolling stomach to back, sitting with only a little support, weight bearing through legs in standing, pulls to sit.

Daily routine:  Audrey wakes up around 6 am even on weekends.  Sometimes earlier and sometimes later, but usually it's 6.  During the week, I need her to wake up this early to get ready for daycare so I have time to nurse her and play with her.  During the work week, she's off to daycare with daddy around 7:45 am.  I pick her up around 5:30 or so and get to play with her and nurse her before she goes to bed around 7 or 7:30.  She sometimes is waking up in the middle of the night, but not to eat, her pacifier and mobile seem to do the trick.
Weekends:  nurses every 2 hours, naps 3-4 times a day (30 to 45 min each), lots of playtime, running errands (mostly when daddy is home too), bed around 7 or 7:30.

4 (and a half) Month Check Up

Audrey had her 4 month check up today with Dr. Collins.  We are about 2 weeks behind which each of these appointments, so here are her 4 1/2 month stats.
Weight:  13 lbs (25% percentile)
Height:  24 1/2 inches (50% percentile)
Head:  15 3/4 inches (25% percentile)

She had 2 shots (1 in each leg) and an oral vaccine.  She cried a little, but overall did amazingly well and went about her day smiling and being a cutie.  Daddy held her during the shots and he did a great job.  He kept reminding the nurse to not stick him with the needle by accident haha.

Dr. Collins ok'd delaying solids to 6 months if we want since she is exclusively breastfed and gaining weight well.  I think we'll practice with rice cereal in her 5th month and then move on to purees at 6 months.  We plan to make our own baby food which I'm excited about, but at the same time, I'm in no rush to add that task to my list.

We have a fun weekend coming up... Nana and Papa are coming to visit!  We're sure to have a great time!

That's all for now!

Happy 4 Months, Audrey!

Audrey is 4 months today & as cliche as it sounds, I cannot believe it!  Time is flying by, but I'm cherishing every moment.
I've been back to work for 5 weeks now and Audrey has been in daycare 4 days a week.  Our lives are a lot different now, but overall, things are going very well.  I'm very thankful to be able to work only 32 hours and 4 days a week.  During the week, we are very busy!  I wake up at 5:30 am and it's all I can do to get myself ready, make my lunch, get Audrey ready, nurse her, pump, and play with her before I have to walk out the door at 7:15.  It's nonstop, but I'm happy to get up early to allow myself time to play with her every morning.  The evenings are equally busy and involves me (usually) picking up Audrey from daycare around 5:30 or 5:40, nursing her, cooking dinner, cleaning bottles and pump parts, making bottles for the next day, nursing her again, and putting her to bed.  Then I shower and go to bed (usually by 9:30!).  Needless to say, we look very forward to our 3 day weekends!
I am happy to say that Audrey is still being breastfed exclusively... I'm so glad it's worked out for us and that I can give her the best nutrition AND save lots of money!

Audrey's unofficial 4 month stats:  (we go to the dr. on June 15 for her 4 month appt)
Weight:  13 lbs
Length:  24ish inches
Clothes:  6 months and some 3-6
Diapers:  size 2 Pampers

Things for me to remember:
-Loves:  reaching for toys in her play gym and attempting to bring them to her mouth, shoving her fists in her mouth, her Soothies pacifiers, "talking" to anyone who will have a conversation with her, giving lots of smiles and some giggles, swinging in her swing, staring at the tv (ah!!), standing on our laps (for several minutes at a time), sitting in her Bumbo (she helps make lunch and cook dinner this way!), sitting on our laps, hanging out facing forward in the Bjorn, studying faces, playing in the bath.

-Not a fan of:  car riding! (it's hot now which doesn't help!), long naps (she's more of a cat napper, usually 30 to 45 minutes tops)

-Audrey still sleeps in her crib everynight.  We continue to swaddle her since she startles herself when unswaddled.  She does great and can go 11-12 hours straight!  Occasionally, she wakes to feed though.  Some mornings she wakes up and we just give her the pacifier and she'll go right back to bed.

-She went swimming in a pool for the 1st time last weekend and although the water was a little cold, she loved it.

-She really is a content, happy, smiling, fun baby.  She rarely cries or whimpers.

-Audrey got her first sickness 2 weeks ago, ear infection and a cold.  She still was a doll though, and was only really upset when the pediatrician was checking her ears.

This post could go on for days, but I'll go ahead and stop.  Audrey is such an amazing joy and we love her so much!!
